At stock speeds the Q9300 is the slowest, overclocked it could probably overtake the Phenom II X4 965, but I would not go for the Q9300 as it is based on the old LGA 775 platform and has no upgrade path compared to AM3.

The Phenom II X6 1055T is faster than the Phenom II X4 965 in programs which use more than four cores such as Photoshop, however for gaming the Phenom II X4 965 is faster.

If you overclock the Phenom II X6 1055T to 3.4 GHz it will be a bit faster than the Phenom II X4 965 at 3.4 GHz.
  2. It really depends on how you plan on using the computer! Post some details and the path to answering your question will be a lot clearer for those, like me, who are trying to help answer your question. :)
  3. Given all the processors are similar in pricing, the AMD 6 core would get the best buy award..
  4. okay well i dont do photoshoping, or autocad drafting crap i game!
  5. Simple then, go for the AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3.4 GHz if you are not thinking of overclocking, but if are intending to overclock then go for the AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 2.8 GHz.
  6. If you plan on overclocking get the amd 6 core, if not get the 965. Yes, I know, 965 is a "black edition" but at 3.4 ghz it is already in the upper echleons of stock speeds. Without a great aftermarket cooler and voltage bump, dont expect 965 to get beyong 3.8ghz. I believe 965@ 3.8 is << 1055t@3.4. If you plan on OC, the 955 is also a good bet. But overall, I would vote for 1055t, as it is much easier to get it to 3.4 ghz. What GPU setup you plan to have?
  7. i already have a gtx 460
  8. A PhII 955be or PhII 945 will get to to 3.6GHz and beyond .... more than enough jam to push your graphics.
