Can i connect analog lcd monitor (VGA port) to HDMI port on MSI R5770

Just Google "VGA to HDMI adapter". I believe Best Buy also carries these adapters in there store.

I was at my local computer store yesterday. Sales rep told me I can't connect my 17" VGA monitor to my 58xx card because that card only takes digital signals.

My plan was to get a new 25" monitor + 17" and hook em up, use the 17" for skype windows/firefox while gaming on the 25".

I think that sales rep doesn't know what he's talking about. Yes/no?

Best solution

No. You might need a converter to change the analog signal to Digital. There around $100 dollars. So it is possible if you choose to do it. The cost is a little prohibiting. If that is the case a monitor upgrade is a better buy using that $100 towards the purchase. Most monitors if not all today have both DVI and VGA inputs. The DVI being the Digital Video Interface which will adapt directly from your HDMI output from your video card. But to answer your original question yes it can be done. But usually it's used for old high dollar projection that have only VGA inputs and are a lot more expensive to replace than a new monitor. Hope that helps to clarify.

And now, can i connect my 22" LG LCD (with only VGA) with Graphic Card. My Graphic Card have only DVI, but in bundle have DVI-VGA connector.
GPU is MSI R5770 Hawk.

Thx,,,

You may use the DVI-to-VGA connector included in the bundle to convert digital (DVI) signals into analog (VGA) which is the one accepted by your LCD.

Ok just going to ask this 1 last time...

Using 2 monitors...Asus 25.5" + Samsung Syncmaster 710v 17" monitor. I would like to connect both to my 5870, and use the Asus for gaming, and the Samsung for vent windows/internet/skype (like general usage).

Is it possible to use one of those DVI-to-VGA connectors included in the video card bundles?
