The new ones are nice, of course, but I don't need DVD capability and
would rather not spring for a new machine that will face maximum
depreciation.
Which, IYO, older Apple laptop models would meet all of the following
requirements:
* meets minimal processor requirements for running OS X 10.3
* includes WiFi, or can be easily and cheaply added via cardslot.
* 32bit color @ 1024x768
* long battery life; replacement batteries are inexpensive.
Also ideal, but less important:
* uses standard (i.e., cheap) 2.5" laptop drives and laptop ram
* isn't held together by 5,000 torx screws in three different
sizes, underneath a case clamped together by hidden plastic tabs
meaning you'll have no idea how to open the thing with a
.pdf take-apart manual.

You might want to look for a Pizmo version; however, they do not come
with the Combo drive so CD burning must be done on an external burner.

Don't need a burner.
Are there any specific problems with Macs regarding wireless that I'd
need to be aware of?
