Is this a big upgrade?

i want to upgrade my computer but im wonderin if this is worth it? ...so im gonna get these 2 things

- AMD Phenom II X4 945 Quad Core Processor AM3 3.0GHZ 8MB Cache 95W 45NM
-ASUS M4A785-M mATX AM3/AM2+ 785G DDR2 PCI-E16 PCI-E 2XPCI SATA RAID Video Sound GBLAN Motherboard

this is my current system...

Windows 7 ultimate 32-bit(6.1,Build 7600)
Pentium dual-core E5300 @ 2.6ghz
4096mb ram
GTX 460 768mb
P5QPL-AM motherboard
500w BFG power supply
hp w1707 17inch 1440x900 resolution

also my ram is 2 differnt types that probly dont run at the same freq but i never noticed a problem so should i get ram or what i said before first? thanks

  1. You didn't mention what your upgrading for, so I can't say for sure if it's a good upgrade, but in a lot of cases yes it would be.

    Your ram is all running at the same speed, if you have 2 kits that run at different speed, the faster ram downclocks to match the slower ram.

  3. Yes.. it's a good upgrade. One that you desperately need! lol, It's a shame you're running a GTX460 on such an old processor and motherboard :)

    Also... you really should look into 64bit windows 7 with your new CPU/mobo combo and since you have 4gb ram

    After this upgrade... do yourself a favor and get a real monitor :0
    I cant even imagine using a low res. 17" with the sweet ass computer you're going to have
