Which Mother Board and CPU fits this build?

I'm building a new system to replace my 6 year old Dell! It has served me well as I play mostly older games (Wc3 and Heroes of Newerth on low) and just surf the net, watch videos.

I am looking for a budget end build that will still last me into the future. I don't mind spending up to $1,000 on just the PC. Mostly looking to play HoN on high settings and be able to play Starcraft2 and DiabloIII. I do not play fps games. I have a Windows 7 ultimate copy already. I already have monitor, keyboard, mouse etc.

Currently I have the following in my cart:

ASUS DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS Black SATA 24X DVD Burner $25.99

COOLER MASTER RC-690-KKN1-GP Black SECC/ ABS ATX Mid Tower Computer Case $69.99 -$10 mail in
rebate

Western Digital Caviar Black WD7501AALS 750GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive $59.99

MSI AMD 790FX Motherboard $157.99 -$20 mir

XFX Radeon HD 5770 (Juniper XT) 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready
CrossFireX Support Video Card $164.99

CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC
$109.99

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) $109.99

AMD Phenom II X4 945 Deneb 3.0GHz Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Processor $142.99

ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 64 Pro 92mm CPU Cooler $27.99

TOTAL ~$880 plus -$50 in mail in rebates ($830 one day)

I am getting the beefier PSU with the intention of adding a second video card for CrossfireX when I need it.

I am debating upgrading the processor to the 3.4gz 965 version for $179.99. It uses 125W though, and I thought less power was better? Please help me with this part.

Also, how much better will the 790FX mobo be over a 790gx? It is only $30 more so it is not a big deal for me.

Finally, to the best of my knowledge these parts are compatible and offer good performance for the money. If I made a horrible mistake somewhere (possibly on the ram) please point it out!

Thank you for any help you can offer!

Switch to the 650W...It would suffice for 2x HD 5850 too...So 2x HD 5770 wont be an issue...

The AMD Phenom X4 955 would be my suggestion...

For a regular user, the 790FX doesnt offer any additional options that the user would take advantage of...
So 790GX would be a better...But I dont think you should go with either as AMD have launched their 8xx series chipsets...
So get the 890GX then...

No you have selected good parts, but you have better alternatives for the CPU cooler and the HDD...
I would suggest the CM Hyper 212+ for the CPU cooler and the Samsung F3 500GB/ 1TB instead...these are faster and more efficient...
But if you are buying the HDD under the Shell shocker deal, then its fine if you stick with the 750GB Black as for that price its a pretty good deal...

And the games that you play dont seem to be very graphic intensive...Why not just go with a single powerful card like HD 5850 ? It will last you long and by the time you want more graphics power, there would be newer cards, then you can upgrade to them...

No CF and getting on the 800 series mobo bandwagon on the cheap?
870 MSI/Gigabyte or
Asrock 880G Extreme3 <--this could CF but excellent price point

Thanks for pointing out the new 8xx boards. I didn't see them in my searches! With the combo deal on the 955 it makes it a clear winner!

The WD 750GB HDD will be an old 250GB platter design. You should get a faster 500GB platter samsung F3 (500BG/1TB) or Seagate 7200.12 (500gb/1TB)

If you go with a single 5850 graphics card, you could drop down to a cheaper motherboard like a Gigabyte 770TA-UD3 and get a cheaper PSU like an Antec Neo Eco 520, Corsair 550Tx or Antec Earthwatts 650.

Gigabyte 870-UD3 is a bit more expensive than the 770TA-UD3 and I dont know of any real benefit to the 870 chipset.
