I bought a Dell Inspiron laptop about a year back.During the PC checkup it was found that the hard disk had a sector which had become unusable. As the laptop is under warranty I asked for a replacemnet. But I'm unsure if the one the company provides is a new one or a refurbished one. Help me to know if it's new.
if your drive has 1 bad sector, the filesystem will mark it as bad and it will continue to be usable. you may get either a new or refurbished drive if you replace it. either way it will still carry the same warranty from the manufacturer.
Is there any way to find if the drive is new? How to perform S.M.A.R.T test?
It doesn't matter if the replacement drive is new or not and you can't do anything about it after it's replaced anyway
