What CPU are you going to use ?
Video editing benefits most from the CPU.Motherboards barely make any difference on it.
I also thought the motherboard make a big difference.
I don't know but I need a cpu that can handle avchd (.mts2 and .mts video file) 1920x1080 recorded at 60p for video editing.
See what the cpu costs first; can't recommend a board until you have a firm budget; most of the g31 or g41 boards will run the q6600 just fine. I've seen them used for around $35.

I try to figure this out can you please help?
1. what is the diference between the i-series and Q-series cpu?
2. are the i-serie also quadcores?
"i" series are socket 1155/1156/1366 CPUs which require P67/P55/X58 chipsets;whereas, "Q" series are socket 775 CPUs that require chipsets like G31,G41,P45 etc.
Aside from Core i3 and 2 Core i5 CPUs,all other Core i5 and i7 CPUs are quad core.

Thank you guys,
you helped a lot, at anandtech I compared the AMD phenom ii x4 955 with the Q6600, I switched to amd 'cause of the price, mobo specs and ports
I bought this configuration: phenom ii x4 955 $140 (new), ASUS M4A88TD-V ($125)
