Recover data from iomega home media drive showed briefly in ubuntu but not showi

Hello,
really would like to rescue this data has all photos since before we married and has 2 years of university work on it. started pc with Ubuntu CD and drive did show until I clicked on it. Still spinning up and is connected via usb to sata converter. any and all help appreciated.
