Gaming @ 1440x900 - ATI 5830 = overkill?

Hey guys

I'm getting a Sapphire Radeon HD5770 1GB DDR5 VAPOR-X soon. My current gaming rig has a 3870 512mb GDDR4 with a C2D E6750 (stock frequencies). I play most, if not all, of my games at 1440x900. I'm building a new rig on an i3/GA-P55-USB3 platform. I was wondering if I should opt for a 5830, though to be honest, I can't justify the need. I think it would be somewhat overkill for the resolution I play at.

What do you guys think?

  1. A 5770 is also overkill so deffinately no need for a 5830
  2. If you want to max everything, sure. But it doesn't justify the price hike.
  3. thanks for the replies guys. I'm gonna stick to a 5770.
    I'll be running it with an i3/GA-P55-USB3 and 4 gb ddr3 - can't wait!
