SATA backwards compatibility

Hi everyone,

I've done as much research as i can on this but not really found a definitive answer. In short, will a SATA 2 hard drive be alright to be plugged into a SATA 3 port on the motherboard?

Thanks.

If SATA I to SATA II is any indicator, it should.

Just like PCI-E, and USB, spec makers seem to prioritize backwards and forward compatibility now, unlike before.
  2. Yes you can plug a SATA 2 hdd in SATA 3 and vice versa.
  3. Confirming.
