I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on a 40GB partition on my netbook. I'm also in the habit of gaming, so I've done a bit of tweaking, mainly decrease page-file (or having on a different drive) and cleaning up the Winsxs folder. I have similar set up on my main rig, and it works just fine. Except the tweaking I've done involves minimal writes, so mainly no page-file and caching on my storage drive.
60 Gig SSD equals about 50 gigs of real space. Most of my systems use about 35 gigs for OS plus programs. So yes AS long as You watch your space a 60 gig will work. My normal recommendation for an OS + Progrqam drive is 80+ Gigs. While many get by with the 60 gig SSD, thee are many others that find it was just to small.
Make sure you:
.. Disable hibernation - save an amount of SSD space equal to your Ram.
.. Mange your page file (Virtual memory). Set min & max to 1024 mb this will save about 1 1/2 x ram space - 1 Gig. ie 8gigs ram it will save about 11 gigs space. Alternative is to move the Page file to the HDD.
.. Disable restore points, or limit the space thay can take. Just 10 restor points equal about 3 gigs space.
Thanks guys, sounds like 60 gigs will do it, the only other program i would have on the drive other than the OS would maybe be BF3 and a internet browser. But if not, my 7200 rpm hdd is just fine for games.
