Set alyernate dns

Hello,
i have configured additional domain(AD)for backup. my clients only have one DNS ip(the ip of DC), is it necessary to set the ip of AD for alternate dns?
Is there any solution to use only one dns for clients??

if you have DNS & AD in single server than you have to set alternate dns with clents, if you have separate DNS server , it will take care of the issue when proble with primary server..
