Optimizing ram for when editing videos

I edit videos and I dont have enough money to upgrade my comp's ram and I am stuck with a measly 4 gigs. Since I am using after effects every bit counts, how can I know what ram intensive proceses I can end in the task manager to save ram?

Run MSCONFIG -> select Diagnostic ; if you need networking then also enable Microsoft Services, and disable your Aero effects. Those are the quickest and easiest way to speed up your system and reduce your RAM overhead.
