5830 with a core 2 duo e7300?

im wondering if i will be able to get the most out of the graphics card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102878) if i have an intel core 2 duo e7300(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115132&cm_re=e7300-_-19-115-132-_-Product) or should i upgrade my cpu first?

  1. bump please :D
  2. can you over clock the e7300? You are going to pay a premium for any socket 775 quad.

P.S. The 5830 is also a bit overpriced compared to the 5770's performance.
  3. well i dont know how to OC it, but how does a 5770 compare to a gtx 260? thats what i have now.
  4. ^ Stay away from the 5830 like the plauge.

    Go for either a 5770 or a 5850.

    And no, That CPU won't bottleneck a 5770 or a 5850 in 95%+ games.
  5. similar performance between the ATI 5770 and Nvidia GTX260, save your money. I doubt you would even increase FPS with your current CPU and a 5830, itself is not a great leap from a 5770.

As far as overclocking goes, go to Tom's OC forum. Post your CPU and mobo and they can help you out.
