Ocz vertex 4 or crucuial m4

End-user reviews at Amazon.com and Newegg.com have been really good for the Vertex 4.

Definitely upgrade the firmware to the latest version 1.5 for maximum reliability/compatibility. Wouldn't hurt to upgrade your motherboard's BIOS to the latest version either.

Yes, the M4's advertised speeds are slower than the Vertex 4; but it's very possible you wouldn't notice the difference between the 2 drives in real-world use.

The M4 is also a very reliable drive. You won't be disappointed with whichever one you decide to buy.

Most of the ocz performance increase was for heavy read/write random usage. but the basic read performance which is typical personal usage isn't exponentially different.

Perhaps if you were using it with intel srt, and you had to randomly read/write and access lots of data, you would gain to some degree.

In personal use, any ssd is the big jump up; so you are splitting hairs on performance after that.

m4 has been released longer, so potentially more "stable" and more reliable and owned by a lot of people.
