5770 or 5830 or 5850

Upgrading gpu. I play at 1680 x 1050. is 5770 good or do I need to go more.

At that res, the 5770 will be good enough. If you are upgrading soon, then I would go for the more powerful 5850.

Performance wise,5850>5830>5770 but i agree with posters above,for 1680x1050 a 5770 suffices

For 1920x1080 i would choose 5850 as well

The HD5770 will be pretty good for 1920x1080. You wont be able to max out the settings on the more intensive games but it will still be a very capable card. If you can't afford the HD5850 then perhaps an HD5770 for now and another in crossfire when you can afford it(if your motherboard is crossfire.)
I would forget about the HD5830. It's rather overpriced for it's performance IMO.
