need a dvd burner, but specs ask for pentium iv - do you have a recomendation for my processor?

What do you mean? The DVD burner you want says that it requires a Pentium 4 minimum or? The Core 2 Duo is faster than the P4 so it should handle anything fine...

The main thing you should find out if you need a IDE or can you use a SATA DVD burner.

If your computer supports SATA get a SATA drive, If not get a IDE.
