i lost all my sound. I have Compaq Presario laptop windows xp and they say it has no sound card but has a sound processor. I am sure it is ok if I can get it turned back on. This happened before and it just came back one day but isn't now. Thanks

That is my problem: I can't find out what the proper driver is for my Compaq Presario 5101us. I look for it on the computer and it says my computer has no sound device installed. :o

Ok I found the proper Driver but it will not install as it says there is no sound device????
I down loaded 2 other that installed but they were upgrades. Didn't help a thing.
Somewhere on here I think the Sound Processor is turned off or disabled.

Are the onboard drivers supplied by Realtek?
If so download DriverSweeper and install.
Run in safemode
Check Realtek audio off not lan
Click purge
Start normal
install the appropriate drivers for your mobo
