Error code 0x00008086.

I have a Dell XPS Gen 4 using Windows XP. It has a ne mother board and the OS was reinstalled about 3 months ago. We have strated getting the blue screen with the error code 0x00008086 sometimes.

  1. Start by testing hardware, i.e. ram and hard drive with memtest and chkdsk. It could also be a driver issue have you done any recent upgrades?
  2. I have run chkdsk. Just the updates needed after reinstalling OS.
  3. bad sectors? have you checked temps?
  4. chkdsk did find some bad sectors and repaired them. checked temps? ??
  5. check windows log files, under manage on my computer,

    HW Monitor http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html to check temps,

    Run memtest bootable disc

  7. Download this - http://memtest.org/download/4.10/memtest86+-4.10.iso.zip

    burn to disc, then change boot priority at startup of computer so it will boot to cd/dvd

    normally Dell's will allow you to change the quick boot at startup hit f12 I believe
