Looks like my laptop is going to have to have a new power jack as
well. I just dropped it off at The Geek Squad at a nearby Best Buy
store. No estimate yet, but they said it will probably run $60-$120 to
get the old jack repaired or replaced. It will take a couple of weeks
to get it done.
For $300, sounds like they intend to replace the entire motherboard.
As I undestand it, this may be necessary if the jack is badly damaged,
but in most cases, the jack can be repaired.
