If i am connected to a network can someone else see my webcam

Hello,
i have just put a webcam on my computer. I am currently home networked with one router. can I be seen by others on my network if I am using my webcam. Just wondering.

Probably not. Nevertheless, if I used a webcam I would find a way to obscure then lens when I wasn't using it because people have been hacked -- piece of card taped across would do.
