Used Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol to clean gpu's board

Hi guys,

I have a brand new (graphic card
) and it came in a little dirty on the board surface... so i used Isopropyl Rubbinb Alcohol 70% with cotton swab to clean the dirty areas... but now the areas i touched with the cotton swab have a different color
than normal.. seems blotchy

did i just destroy my gpu's board? the discoloration is really bothering me

I am guessing that you didn't destroy it. Only way to be sure is to plug it in and see what happens.

pic? It's probably fine. Maybe some of the water or alcohol was absorbed...in which case it'll evaporate in a few days. Or do you mean you rubbed off the color?

no it just left it a bit cloudy looking (the areas that i used the cotton swab + rubbing alcohol)

i tried to clean it 'cuz the gpu board had many oily/sticky areas, so i tried to clean it with the 70% isopropyl rubbing alcohol

It is probably ok but the only way to tell is to plug it in

Thermal compound tends to smear so that is what you may be seeing. Cotton swabs aren't good enough for clean up jobs like this unless it is for cleaning power stages.
