My motherboard states :

4 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 16 GB of system memory

and my ram is 1.65v, i know its possible to change this. How would i go about doing it within the bios.

and there any downsides to this?

thanks

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-870A-UD3
Cpu: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3.4GHz
Ram (MEMORY): Kingston 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz HyperX Memory Kit 1.65V CL9

You don't actually have to run your memory at 1.5v on that mainboard. AMD CPUs don't have any limitations when it comes to RAM voltages. It's just some of the newer Intel CPUs that shouldn't run with RAM voltages over 1.65v spec.
