Cpu sizel lga775

ok, i got a inteld915gav d915pgn atx p4 motherboard, but i do not understand what cpu to buy for speed or anything else for that matter. now i know that a pent.4 or pent.4 extream or 64 bit processor goes in, but all of the cpus have letters and #s so it is kind of confuseing.i mean just get a pent.4 and don't worry about the size or letters. can somebody help me out plz. thanx in advance
