If you're overclocking, grab the HAWK. If you want silent operation, grab the HIS.

oh i just read that the HIS one is cooler and stuff but is even more expensive due to the SUPER EXPENSIVE SHIPPING from new egg... so im get the hawk from amazon at 190$$ (:

Make sure you overclock it! That's one of the best strengths of MSI cards.

Of course dude! im a noob on OCing and gpus and stuff but ive been reading a lot about them and i know the hawk comes with a Afterburner Ocing Sofrtware and millitary parts with three huge pipes, etc, etc.. (:
so im gettin it! any idea of the limit for Overclocking it?

The Hawk is only $175 on newegg and the shipping is free;

Also the IceQ is more expensive, even after the rebate, so I don't know why you are saying it is $20 cheaper.
April 29, 2010 8:39:45 PM

Yeah thats beacause i saw the price with the rebate and it was 169$, but its fine i prefer to pay more by buying it at amazon cuz its the only company i trust for internet delivering, plus its only 8 bucks more than newegg

I believe the HD5770 maxes out the amount AMD lets you OC it with catalyst control center. From there on our, use MSI Afterburner to raise voltages and keep going.
April 29, 2010 8:51:20 PM

so i have to test te card limits with CCC, and then OC to its limit on the afterburner..
is that right?

Yes. If you reach a limit in CCC, copy down the clocks, set those clocks in MSI Afterburner, but raise the voltages a hair as well. If that's stable (play games for a couple hours), then raise the voltages another bump, and add 5mhz to the core/memory. If it's stable, add more mhz. If it becomes unstable, up the voltage.

It's a big repetition process.

Ok thanks (: ive been reading a lot about the card in the last 30 mins on the Overclockers Club official page and it says that is the best 5770 to buy and its maximum clocks are: 1025 for the core clock, 1410 for the Memory clock and the volt is set up at 1.29! and it runs incredibly stable at all directx 11 games!

Newegg is, if anything, more respected than Amazon. No reason to avoid it, especially if the price is cheaper.
April 29, 2010 9:31:02 PM

Ok dude ill try it, is just that amazon delivers almost to the whole world.. New egg is jst for USA.. but it looks great cuz its only for pc´s
April 29, 2010 9:37:24 PM

Newegg is better..

Yeah, if you aren't in the US/Canada newegg isn't a possibility, but if you are it's the best way to go.

I have another issue now.. i dont know if the card will fit in my Biostar ta780g m2+ ...
i mean its a good card but they´re a lot of cables, capacitors and conectors in the way.. i have a shitty 3450 so it fits.. but i dont know if the hawk will...

It will definitely fit in that motherboard. If anything is going to be a problem it will be if you need both of those PCI slots for cards as the HD5770 will be covering one of them making it unusable. Case size shouldn't be a problem. If I'm not mistaken the HD5770 is about the same length as your motherboard so if one fits in the case so will the other.

*Unless your case is low profile. Then you are looking at the wrong class of cards.
April 29, 2010 10:26:29 PM

The case is not the problem.. its big enough i dont even have to measure i to be sure.. but will the gpu will fit?

April 29, 2010 10:34:22 PM

Yeah, there's no reason that card won't be fine for that motherboard(unless you need both PCI slots like I said.) From the looks of it the top 2 sata ports may be blocked as well, but I'm not sure about that and you'll still have 4 others anyway.
April 29, 2010 10:36:57 PM

Both? i only have 1 pci that i know.. i dont know wats the little PCIE shortlike conector at the right of the 2.0 though (both oranges). Is that a pci too as well?

The shorter orange slot is a PCIEx1 slot. It will not be blocked. One of the green/yellow regular PCI slots will be. The card will cover the general area of the red box in the pic below;

No problem, asking questions it what the site is for.
April 29, 2010 11:09:39 PM

Emm 2 more questions xD
Those 2 green slots and the PCIEx1, what are they usefull for?

Question 2:
My mobo says it is CrossFire capable, but i dont see another PCIEx16 built in the card.. so maybe is one of the green or PCIEx1 slots?

The PCI slots are used for things like sound cards, wireless/ethernet cards/modems, ect. If you are using a router you will likely want to put a wireless card in the free slot. I believe PCIEx1 is actually the intended replacement for it so when you buy a new card that might use a PCI slot you will probably be able to buy a PCIEx1 version of it instead.
You motherboard is capable of hybrid crossfire, not regular. Hybrid crossfire is crossfiring the onboard graphics with a discrete card in the PCIEx16 slot. It can only be done with old and rather weak cards and was never a particularly useful thing to do to begin with.
