Gigabyte P55-UD5 network ports (2x) fail ?

I have no complaints about the P55-UD5 board... except that one of the network ports began to fail intermittently. Then finally, both died. After RMA from Gigabyte, they've been working for three weeks, but last night, the first port died again.

Once dead, it's dead in windows 7 & ubuntu 10.10 as well (clean install on the same partition).

I've tried installing a separate 10/100 network card when both died, but even that wouldn't work.

Any clues what might be going on?

Thanks

Just a quick correction on the above--forget the bit about the pci card as I just checked & I think it doesn't support 64-bit processing (I'm running a 64-bit system).

but is there anything I can do about the onboard network ports dying?

or to put it another way... If the network ports die, is this a reasonable sign that the whole board is going out, or just an inconvenience & sign I should get a PCI NIC?
