In fact list all your system specs so we can look for any un-balanced performance bottlenecks.

All those cards mentioned so far will max out games at that resolution.

Whatever you get, just reserve some money for a good Power supply out of those 300$ and then think about the card.

The best you can get is a 5830. A 5770 will also do very well at that resolution. But a 5830 will last you longer as it is more powerful.

How long do you wanna keep the card?

If you wanna keep the card for maximum 2 years then get the HD5770 and save the rest of the money. Cuz any better card won't be profitable(Your eyes can't tell the difference between 100Fps and 150Fps in a game)!

That motherboard supports CF. So if you plan to add another 5770 down the road you'll get exceptional gaming performance:)

And get a good PSU. I wouldn't trust a no name brand's power supply for a shining new card :) . And a good PSU also ensures overall system stability and reliability:)

The 5770 has a 128bit memory interface, that will bottleneck the next time you upgrade. Unless you want DX11 that bad, Id pick up a 4890 or if you must, the 5830. The 5850 is solid too though. As soon as I can Im going to crossfire two of them together.

Please explain, how will the 128bit bottleneck him when he upgrades?

I don't understand, are you saying that the 5770 will actually perform worse if you get a better CPU?

A card that can produce 60fps with a 128bit bus will not bottleneck anything more than a card that can produce 60fps with a 256bit bus will.

Both the 4890 and the 5830 are more powerful than the 5770, though....

But the main thing is that he doesn't needs anything more powerful than 5770 for running games at 1440X900. :)

Noone can say for sure, but one thing is certain, right now that card will own any game in that res, DX11 or not.

If you stay on that res it will most likely continue to do so for a while

The HD5770 is actually a pretty good card for 1920x1080 which is a much higher resolution that you are using;
1920x1080 = 2.07 million pixels
1440x900 = 1.30 million pixels
It should be extremely good for resolution for a rather long time. The only reason to go for a better card (ie, the HD5850) is if you plan on upgrading your monitor in the near future.
As for DX11 it varies by game. DX11 actually increases performance in some games.
