Hello,

My 4890 card has recently broke and is still in warrenty, Only problem is they no longer sell the 4890 so they have offered me a 5770.

From what i have read on various forums the 5770 is actually a downgrade. I'm starting to wonder if i should push for them to give me a 5830 as it's much closer to a 4890 then the 5770.

Any advice and tips on how to argue for the 5830 would be appreciated :)

Hello again, Updated Information.

From what i have read on various forums the 5770 is actually a downgrade. I'm starting to wonder if i should push for them to give me a 5830 as it's much closer to a 4890 then the 5770. I don't want to settle for a downgrade and if they do not give me the 5830 is it worth paying the difference (£40).

My current system spec is;
Windows 7 ultimate.
Q6600 Quad 2.33Ghz Processer.
4gb RAM.
1000w PSU

Any advice and tips on how to argue for the 5830 would be appreciated as i think they are offering me a downgrade. :)

Thank You,

The 4890 ->5770 sure is a downgrade.
If you're going to push or nudge at all - push for a 5850.
They might balk at that and offer a 5830 anyway. Maybe not quite as powerful but not as much of a downgrade as going to 5770. It's probably a fair offer considering price.

I just saw your update.
Is that forty quid about what the difference in price is for what you paid when you bought the 4890?
Seems about right in terms of price vs performance.

Aye, They're offering a 5770 as a replacement priced at £122. When i brought my 4890 it was £152 and the 5830 is £189. Do you really think i should push for a 5850? It's £252 which is £100 more then my card was.

If you can give me anything that i can use to argue over the phone for the 5830 or even the 5850 i would really appreciate it.

I know basic comparison of the 4890 vs. 5770.

Hmm, It seems like i've really lost a good card :/

But what would i say when i ring them? That a number of studies online have proven that the 5830 is closer to the 4890 then the 5770 and the 5770 is a downgrade? It seems to me like i should really be pushing for the 5850 tbh, They should be giving me a replacement card that is just as good, if not better then my orignal card regardless of the price tag. The card should not have failed in the first place.

I just need some help to back up my arguement if you understand what i mean. I know the 4890 is better then the 5830 but i don't know how to explain it to them.

Thank you for replies, any extra help would be appreciated.

Bustajam,
