How Much Would CPUs Cost if AMD Didn't Exist?

I was thinking the other day that up until AMD came on the scene, Intel had somewhat of a monopoly on the CPU market. What would the CPU market look like right now if AMD hadn't jumped in and gotten so much attention from the hardcore gamer crowd?

With no actual meaningful competition, would CPUs cost double, triple what they do now, or be half as fast?

More about cpus cost didn exist
  1. They would probably cost twice as much and we probably wouldnt be past Pentium 4s yet. A cheap intel CPU would probably cost as much as an i7 does today, and only give you as much performance as a low end celeron.
