I have a Samsung G3 Station External HDD 1TB which I have been using for quite some time now and it has a lot of information of mine saved onto it. Recently I had connected it to an old computer I had which still has 2x 1.1 ports. Since I rarely used this port - and the fact that all the 2.0 ports where already in use by other usb devices, I had no choice but use the 1.1 port - I hooked up my External HDD to the hdd port, but found the port not to be functioning at first. I realized that the port was not completely connected to the Motherboard (the 1.1 port is not built on the mobo but rather comes as an additional cable you can connect to it); so I reconnected the port to the mobo and found that my External was now telling me that "my device cannot be recognized'' and that "my device can perform faster''.
I tried hooking it up to two other laptops, one samsung and the other an hp, with both reading it first time but at a reduced speed before finally giving the same messages as stated earlier. It even recommends I format before using the device!
I hope you guys can help me out on this one, and I do apologize for the long message here.
Also as another question, I would like to know if getting the i5 3570k is a good idea, or choosing a i3 2130 would be just as fine, not looking at a discrete graphics card at the moment and is the reason why I am considering the i5 for its hd 4000 integrated gfx card and overclock ability and that I prefer four actual cores over i3's two cores four threads structure.
Thanx in advance for your response
P.S. Should you find this thread elsewhere, then I apologize as this was probably loaded up by me, as I tried to post this twice but it didnt seem to submit successfully, as I received no confirmation
P.S. This is my first post so please understand if I make any mistakes
