I just installed 2 (2 GB) ram into my desk topPC and it will not start up - a two tone alarm sounding. I removed one of the two sticks to give only (2 GB) ram and it will start up. Any advise on how I can get my PC to run with the 4gb ram installed.

Ram DDR2 speed 800 operating system windows XP home addition.

No sure what you mean by rig - it has two slots and it says the mother board that can take upto 4gb 800 DDr2.

Not knowing too much about these matters but could the voltage be some thing to do with this?

Will test the other stick tomorrow to see if this works.

In the meantime any other advise welcome

Tested the second stick on its own in the same slot and all works fine.

The mobo manual does mention to clear the CMOS when there are modifications on the memory modules - in another section referencing adding or removing RAM says that the CMOS memory will need to be cleared if there are module related porblems.

Any one with experiences of have to take this action? Advices required please.
