Video Editing (Home Use), Gaming PC Modest Budget low$1500-2k tops

Hello this will be my first custom build...need some help with the right components please

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: JUNE/JULY 2010

BUDGET RANGE: $1600 on tower maybe 2k would not be able to go any higher than that though

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Video Editing(Amateur/Home Use) Sony Vegas and Photoshop/Win7 Cinerlella/Linux, Audio Production(Amateur/Home Use) Probably FL Studio, Gaming and Virtual Machines

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Just need internal tower components and case, Already have OS and have a DVD/CD burner

OS Used: Will be dual booting Win7/Linux

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: US Newegg open to other suggestions of course

PARTS PREFERENCES: Intel CPU, Nvidia GPU, Full Tower Case with lots of cooling

OVERCLOCKING: Probably

SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Maybe

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Noise isnt a huge issue as my Audio Production would not require any live recording, but I dont want something that sounds like a jet either. Mainly just need an all around workhorse. Looking for something "Upgradable" though I understand that is limited.

HFC- Will need a better cooler than stock cause I plan to try and overclock the 930 to around 3.6-3.8ghz.

GPU-Open to suggestions based on my needs

HD- Might want an SSD for OS and apps but with their prices that might have to be purchased as an upgrade at a later date, and then also some 1TB for storage

Power Supply-Open to suggestions, i hear Corsair is probably best

Case- Open to suggestions, can be big and would actually prefer a large full tower, needs to have a good airflow though

Optical- I would like a BLU-RAY burner if it fits in budget

and anything else I might have missed need... Thanks

It's easy to go in several directions on this build, but I think you would be happiest using a different approach. We can get all the performance you are wishing for by adjusting the platform a bit.

Goal here was to provide for a system capable of a 4.0 - 4.2 GHz Overclock w/ little effort, easy / roomy installation of all parts and provide enough oomph for adding a 2nd card in SLI in huge, extremely quiet PSU and quiet case w/ dust filters.

Hard to pick the choice here. If ya spend more money (+350), you could get a 5970 but twin 470's in SLI has better min. frame rates than the 5970 in DX11 games (1920 x 1200, hi settings) by about 23% (17% for avg. frame rates) .... could add the 2nd card come XMas time.

Another option would be to get a 5850 and add a 2nd at Xmas....will save you $50 per card ($14%) but will also drop min. frame rates by about 19%. Each card is well priced for it's performance in the market so hard to find fault with any of those choices. This list below which provides the cost in "dollars per frame" (9 benches in DX11, 1920 x 1200 @ hi settings) might help ya choose.
