hello friends, i am just about to buy a new graphic card preferably 5750 but i am having a doubt in my mind
that will my 450w frontech psu will handle it.it is having 19a on the +12v column
i am using a
core2duo e7500 3ghz (not overclocked)
2gb ddr2 ram (1033mhz)
looking at some other threads i found out that 5750 uses ~70w at its max and cpu 65w
i will be playing gta4 on 800x600 resolution with medium texture settings.
i want to run 5750 at that psu just for 3 months,if runnig it reduces my psu lifetime, i don't care
so plzz advice will i be able to play with that gpu just for a short period of time with no problems

Solution
rockstar, you should have no problems. Figure 6 amps each for CPU and GPU, 3 amps for a couple of hard drives and an optical, and an amp for fans.

It will be closer than I like to run a PSU. I prefer to operate at 50% - 70% of capacity.

kiki, a good 450 watt PSU (such as a 450 watt Corsair with its 33 amp 12 volt output) will handle a pair of 5770's. Two CF'd 5770's need 16 - 18 amps.

OP's 450 watt Frontech will not handle it.

Well, a PSU with that rating can handle a 5750.

But you are cutting it too close. And Frontech PSU are low quality. they won't sustain heavy loads for a long time.

Anyways, Just wanted to tell you that I have a E7300 at 3.2ghz which was not able to run GTA4 at 1280X1024 and all settings at low.
i was getting frequent lock ups. I doubt you'll get good performance even at 800X600!!

thanks for your reply but i think my pc should have no problems on playing gta4 at that resolution since my cousin was able to play with no lock-ups and at good fps with just an 2.4ghz core2duo cpu and what more he was playing on an dell laptop and you know that they don't put decent gpu in that.bro, you too should try to lower the resolution or install directx10.1 instead of 11(if you have) and see the performance change.
