Well, Newegg customer choice for a 1366 motherboard comes down to two ASUS boards.

The first is an ASUS P6X58D
LGA 1366
X58
SATA 6
USB 3.0
ATX
6-240 pin DDR3

The second is an ASUS Sabertooth
LGA 1366
X58
SATA 6
USB 3.0
ATX
6-240 pin DDR3

The ASUS P6X58D costs $100.00 more than the Sabertooth.

Differences (how significant are they and are they sufficient to make a decision one way or the other?

Feature ASUS P6X58D ASUS SABERTOOTH

PCI Express 2.0 x16 3 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (at x16/x8/x8 or x16/x16/x1 mode) 2 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (dual at x16/x16 mode)
PCI Express x16 None

The main difference between them is that P6X58D has 3 PCI-E slots;whereas, sabertooth has 2,so unless you need 3 way SLI,go with sabertooth

The most recommended in here is the Asus P6X58D-E, $210.

Yep but still if 3-way SLI isn't needed, sabertooth is a great choice and it's cheaper too.(Though only $10 cheaper than P6X58D-E)

But doesn't that board allow you the option of using the third PCI-E slot as a geometry processing card?
Which would make gaming a lot better!

It Depends on your gaming needs, if you are going hardcore gaming u will need a third Graphic Card (P6 X58D-E), but both boards are great.
