DX4200-09 Processor upgrade! Please Help

I am upgrading this computers gear inside. I order new Power supply, video card, blu ray drive, 2 TB HD, 8 gig of crucial ballistix memory and would LOVE to find out what the best CPU would be for this system, i have all the specs and Gateway told me they dont recommend changing the hardware inside, but i would love more speed then a 9100 Quad 1.8

I don't recommend upgrading anything either. Bios updates are sometimes required for newer cpus; oem systems by gateway, hp, etc rarely provide them; they would rather have you buy a brand new system. If you change boards, you may need a new windows coa or at least a fresh install plus calling microsoft. Your 9100 quad is the old phenom I, so the newer phenoms probably won't work.

i already plan on doing a fresh install for vista to get rid of all the gateway stuff...

Mal, yeah i am looking inside this computer case and in the motherboard, but i am seeing no model numbers or anything, no company names.....
