hi all,
first off, if this is the wrong group to post this to, then apologies,
pls point me in the rigth direction if u can...
i have a toshiba P10 notebook, 2.8Ghz, 512 MB ram, nvidia Gforce FX vid
card with 64 MB on board vid memory.
when i am playing certain games, for which i have more than the min
requirment according to whats written on the back of the box for the
game, my screen is freezing regularly. my friend who also has a toshiba
laptop which is both older and technically inferior to mine , is not
getting this problem. the game play is continuing, but my screen freezes
up for about a second , quiet regularly. when this happens the hard disk
LED is illuminating, signifying the HD is doing something.

Possibly the HD cannot keep up with buffering the video stream. Do a
disk cleanup and defragment. Open device manager, IDE ATA/ATAPI
controllers, check Primary and Secondary IDE channels Advanced Settings
for DMA. Primary IDE channel (Device 0) should be Transfer Mode: DMA if
Available, Current Transfer Mode: UDMA Mode 5. Secondary (Device 0)
should be the same except UDMA Mode 2.
