i just got a bit confused i thought that perhaps using the upgraded 6 pin maybe different from an 8 pin

6+2 just means it can work as either an 8-pin or 6-pin PCIe connector.

It allows one design to work two different ways, just like how the 20+4 motherboard main-power connector and 4+4 CPU-power connector allow them to be compatible with different motherboards.

The extra 2 pins in the 6+2 configuration allow it to deliver the same amount of power as the standard 8 pin connector.
