Hello,

What I am trying to do is change the basic on board video to a PCI video card and I just wanted to get some suggestions on what would be the best way of doing it. Now I have been reading that there are a couple ways of doing this. I have read to go into the Device Manager and disable the on board video the shut down the PC and install the new card and of course load the drivers. The other way I heard about was to go into the BIOS and disable the on board video to PCI then install the card into the tower.

Is one way better than the other or does it matter which way I do it.

Thanks

I prefer to so it this way:

Download the driver for the new card but so not install it.
Uninstall the video driver for your onboard video.
Power down and install your new video card.
Go into the BIOS and disable the onboard video.
Boot Windows and install the new video driver.

When you buy a video card, it will come with instructions on how to install it.
