Asus x58 static problem

Hey guys, I have an awful alot of static when I use skype and ventrilo with my Razer Carcharias headset.

A few specs of my computer-

-Asus x58 Mobo
-GTX 470
-i7 950
-Windows 7

Anyway, I havn't had this headset for more then 3 months. As soon as I plugged it in, I was getting complaints about bad static. I have updated the newest driver which was a year old. What else should I do?

and when you try it with another headset what happens?

The reality is this shouldnt be too hard to verify. Either the headset has a problem or there is something else. But there arent too many things that will impact it.

Try this headset somewhere else and try another headset here...
