Hi,
I hope someone can help me out here. I noticed that my ram usage seemed a bit high with around 50-60 processess using about %30 of system memory. The majority of that usage seems to be coming from several processess called scvhost. Is it nessasary to keep all of them running, or can some be shut down to save memory. Specs are
Win 7 64-bit
i7-870
Asus P7P55D-Pro mobo
4 gigs ddr3
nvidia gts 450
Thanks to anyone who can share some advice.

I would advise not shutting down svchost.exe (shortened for service host), often since some of then are tied to network or system functions and cannot be shut down (most often the ones using the most memory).

This process allows services, that are not executables, to be run normally as if they were.

Unused RAM is wasted RAM and with 4GB you shouldn't be running into memory issues from svchost.exe.
