Hello,

I bought HP machine with Windows XP installed. It was said that RAM memory is 8GB. Clicking on My Computer I see that RAM memory is about 4GB. Is it any way to find out what is RAM size on my machine?

XP is a 32-bit OS and can only address 4GB. If you have 8GB installed the excess is wasted.

While the OS will only 'address' about 4GB, you can use a freeware application called CPU-Z (google that) and it will show you information about your hardware, including how many sticks and what capacity of RAM you have.

As Bubblehead mentioned your XP is 32 bit and you also get a 64bit version of XP which is rarely seen, XP 32 bit only "sees" 4gb of usable ram whereas the 64bit will be able to see and use all 8gb of your ram, therefore you can use cpu-z http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html to get all information for your cpu
