This is my second attempt at a list that I am happy with. This will be my first build and I could use some help to make sure I am not mismatching parts or anything. Thanks for looking.

More about : clear takeoff

Yes everything would work but you are overpaying for some things and buying excessively for other components.

My suggestions would be dont get the i7 950, its a waste of money, get the 930, a better cooler than the H50 and you can OC it to the same level as the 950.

Even if you want to crossfire 2 5870s you only need a good 750W PSU, the XFX 750W unit will do quite well and save you a bit.

I would swap the cooler for the hyper 212+ when it comes back in stock it will be ~$30, and looking at the frosty tech charts it actually does significantly better than the significantly more expensive H50

Nothing there is an actual mis-match.

Change out the i7-950 for i7-930 for the $270 savings. You can easily get back the performance difference with an easy overclock on the i7-930.

Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound not required. Use what comes with the Corsair H50.

The CyberPower UPS is a level or two above what you actually need. You don't match the UPS to the maximum wattage of the PSU - only to what your system actually draws. CyberPower Intelligent 1000VA 600 Watt $120 should be plenty for the system including your monitor.

hyper 212? on this budget? nonono

I would get a noctua d14 it performs amazingly when a lot of heat is created(on high overclocks). You could also get a prolimatech. Or a cocage arrow.

Thanks for the quick replies!
I downgraded to the 930. I will look into the easy overclock for it.

Also downgraded to the 750w psu

FSX will not be primary. I will play all kinds of games and do some light HD video editing.

Will the Prolimatech Megahalems Rev.B CPU Cooler fit in this case? Is it that much better than the H50? Will the H50 allow me to overclock well?

Thanks again

the megahelems will fit no problem. It is a good deal better than the h50. And it doesn't take the space of an exhaust fan. The h50 will let you OC pretty well but the megahelems will do better.

OK. I switched to the megahelems. Last ? how am I on fans. Do I need anything else before I pull the trigger?
Thanks in advance

No longer a wish list. It became a shopping cart and soon it will become a ups package.

I ended up getting the Nvidia GTX 470 since the one I wanted was out of stock. I am sure I will love it. Thank you for your help. Look for me in the "my new build won't start up" thread or something like that. I am hoping for beginners luck.

You make your own luck sometimes.
Read that sticky topic "[New System Build] PERFORM THESE STEPS before posting about boot/no video problems!" now to see a few of the 'gotchas' that can crop up.
Also worth reading "[New System Build] Step-by-Step Guide to Building a PC"

You can also go to the Asus website and download the PDF motherboard manual and browse that while you wait for the knock on your door. Same for a lot of the other parts.

And good luck, too!
