Changing HDD position

Today, I got my corsair h100. installed it and didnt have room for my hdd bay and was hard pressed t find a way to install my hdd. I mounted it vertically, been using horizontally for about 6 months. Can this cause a problem? On of my dads friends who works on computers said that my drive could have some serious issues from chaning positions. Is this true? It does have adeqaute cooling and I did not move it while it was in use.

running the drive vertically is not a problem.
