I remember a couple years back the 8800GT was being advertised as the card that could run crysis on high and still be affordable and I remember the 8800GTX being one of the top cards 2007, I recently purchased a Radeon HD 5770 and It generally runs Crysis at 40-50fps on high with no AA while very rarely dipping into the 20s or going up to 60 depending on the location. I am 98% sure that my system is not the bottleneck as it is running an I5 650 3.20GB with 8gb ddr3 ram.
Was the 8800GT overhyped and not capible at running crysis at 30FPS+ or are the 8800GT and 8800GTX on par with the newer HD 5770.

Ive heard the 9800 series is similar to the 8800 series so if you can compare the 9800 series to the radeon HD 5770 it would also be helpful.

i owned the 9800GT (same card as the 8800GT, just a different name). It could run Crysis at around 30 FPS on DX 9 high settings (not the DX 10 enthusiast setting)

the ATI 5770 is a solid step up from the 8800GT & 8800GTX

I assume DX 10 places more strain?
