Changing hard drives

yes, they can be switched but you would have to do a clean reinstall of the OS(and probably a reformat of the drive).

Hardware wise, yes. They both use IDE hard drives. Software wise, no. Windows XP would have to be reinstalled in order to run on the 2100.

You may need to reinstall windows. ME and xp are two different setups for your hardrive.

or u can just repair ur windows installation.......

How is that done exactly? I have the system restore disc that came with the 3000 when it was purchased. Would that work? And if so, would the restore disc be used when the blue screen comes up? Both computers are 8 and 6 years old respectively and I have a new Dell laptop, so just thought I'd give it a try. Thanks
