What graphics card to use?

Looking to get a new graphics card. Not sure what I can handle. I have a 24" widescreen running at 1920x1200. PC specs are:

G.SKill 4gb PC3 10666 Ram
AMD Phenom II x4 955 Black Edition 3.2ghz
Corsair 650w power supply
MSI 790FX-GD70 AM3 AMD 790FX ATX AMD motherboard

Looking for the best I can get for around $400-450ish. Depends on how much I can convince my wife I need to spend. I play Bad Campany 2 right now and also will be playing other FPS in the future. Any suggestions are appreciated!

More about what graphics card
  1. Ever considered getting a Radeon 5870?
It should be at 400$ id not less
  2. A 5870 would be the best choice for that budget, and will run BC2 nicely, as well as any other mainstream FPS that might pop up in the near future.
  3. Any suggestion on the manufac? I will be ordering from Newegg and some brands seem to have really bad reviews. Just looking for suggestions thanks!
  4. i would recommend the XFX just for the warranty, and i wouldn't put much stock in newegg reviews IMO
  5. The only real difference between manufacturers is warranty and cooler. XFX has a really really good warranty (lifetime for you, and if you sell it, lifetime for the buyer. I would suggest either of these:

    XFX Radeon 5870
This one's cheap and its XFX. Only $410

    Gigabyte Radeon 5870
This one's got a massive stock overclock, running at 950 core. Also great double fan cooler. But, $90 more.

The Gigabyte one does have a great stock oc, but the other card could probably achieve the same. I would go for the XFX.
