Why has my Sims Deluxe Edition Game stopped working?

Hello,
I recently installed The Sims Deluxe Edition into my laptop, and it was working perfectly for about 2 weeks. Today, when I put the disc in (which was virtually spotless) into the comp, the menu popped up with a message window saying, "Please insert the correct disc and hit 'ok' to continue". Has this happened to anyone else? And first of all, why? Second of all, how can I fix this? Your help is VERY much appreciated.

Either disk or drive issue, test the game with another computer. If the same thing happens, could be a bad drive.
