Gaming System. $650 USD. 1st time build.

I am finally looking to build a new pc, after 10 years with the old one!!!!!!!
I am trying to stay under $650USD, including the OS. (Before tax and shipping)
However, I do want to be able to run all current games, which I believe this system will do just fine.
I also want to be able to easily upgrade in a couple years.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated!

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming. I would like to be able to play current games at reasonable graphics settings.

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers

PARTS PREFERENCES: No preference. However, low cost with good performance and reliability are important to me.

OVERCLOCKING: Maybe. CROSSFIRE: No.

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1024x768. Currently have a CRT Compaq FS740. Plan on upgrading as soon as funds allow.

That is an old, slow HDD model. Get a much faster Samsung F3 or Seagate 7200.12 for cheaper.

Look at a newer motherboard like the 770T-USB3, 880GM-USB3 or 770TA-UD3 or that has USB3 and SATA 6GB for the same $$ (or less).

I looked at the Samsung F3 and Seagate. They have the same specs on newegg. What about them is better, in particular, what makes them faster?

Thanks for the new mobo recommend. 770TA-UD3 is $5 cheaper and has the USB3 and SATA 6gb functionality.

The samsung f3 and 7200.12 drives run on 500 gb platters that run faster than the 250gb platters of the caviar black.

Right. So during the same time period the F3 head reads twice as much data as a head on an old 250GB platter would read.
