I know a decent amount of computers but am at a loss on this one and cannot seem to find a clear answer anywhere. My mobo supports up to 24 GB total.

My question if I have the ram that i have in my mobo now G.Skill Turbulence 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) and the mobo supports triple channel would i be able to put it 3 more sticks with G.SKILL Trident+ Turbulence II Series 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2000 (PC3 16000)

If my thinking is correct it should just assume the speeds of the slower current memory... am I correct with this thought?
