If I were to buy a mobo that supports 3x sli + pysx slot and i bought (For Example) 2 GTX 260 Core 216 and i place the first one in the first slot, do i have to place the second card in the slot right after the first or can i skip down to the 3rd slot for extra airflow? If i can do that will it decrease my performance?

Thanks in advance!

It really depends : some mobos have, with 3 x PCIex16 slots multi GPU configured as such:

1st : 8x
2nd : 8x
3rd : 4x (example)

when 3 GPUs are slotted in and you would want to avoid running 4x

Hmm... Im not sure entirely why the mobo has 3x sli if it isnt useful to use the last slot... It seems pretty dumb... Do you know of any X58motherboards that support 16x by 16x sli?

The ASUS P6X58D-E will run x16,x16 in the first slots. Also, you can look at the EVGA X58 FTW3. IMO... EVGA are the best boards & have the best support for SLI.
